Linden Acupuncture and Holistic Health is named after the Linden Tree. It is important to talk about the namesake of my business to clarify the intention, vision, and ethos of the work that I do. The Linden Tree is a personal favorite of mine–the blooms in June and July are mesmerizing and have lifted my spirits countless times.
Linden Trees are native to North America, but are also found all over the world. They can be identified by their heart shaped leaves and deep roots and their glory time is typically May–July.
The bark, leaves, sap, and flowers are a renewable raw material with multiple uses. The bark is used for ropes, mats, furniture, and the like. Various parts of the tree and flowers are used medicinally as herbs. From the pollen, the nectar, and the sap, a type of greenish, perfumed honey is produced. It is a tree that is incredibly important in beekeeping. Yellow paint is even produced from its flowers! It is favorable to natural regeneration and has been utilized in its entirety for millennia.
While the Linden Tree is known as a beautiful, useful tree, it is often planted to reference its historical and spiritual significance. They are a sacred tree, a symbol of love, fertility, prosperity, fidelity, friendship, peace, justice, altruism, good luck, and divine presence. They are known as healing and protective trees for keeping away diseases and evil spirits. The symbolism and healing qualities of the Linden Trees are detailed in numerous traditional religious doctrines as well as referenced in astrology, legends, and folklore. The importance of the Linden Tree comes from its presence influencing the cultural and spiritual life of humanity over so many centuries. In respect to this, it is often referred to as a sort of Axis Mundi. Together, these details of the Linden Tree bring us closer to the sacred, archaic places, and traditions of our past.
As you can see, Linden Trees are more than just a beautiful part of nature. There is power woven through the immense history around this sacred tree, through parables, ideas, and concepts. This is an extraordinary parallel to the work I do infusing ancient principles of healing and being through the application of Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture, herbalism, various holistic modalities, spiritual acknowledgement, energy healing, and the connection to nature in this human realm is so important. The Linden Tree embodies a reference to power of the past knowledge that is still present to assist us in modern times!
