The health and wellness industry is a huge and growing phenomenon. The term “wellness" is often thrown around with different meanings in regard to health. But what does it really mean? In clinical practice or educational support, it can hold a variety of implications.
When I address the concept of wellness, it is as well-rounded and multifaceted approach that best serves my clients. Some of the driving principles of holistic and natural medicine is to live in accordance with nature and the cycles of life. By living holistically, one would consider and be aware of the state of their own health before arriving at a state of more severe disease and illness. This includes the incorporation of all things related to the mind, body, and spirit, specific to an individual. While there are a lot of methods to explore in this realm, the concept of homeostasis for each person remains consistent.
I believe that there are many ways to claim agency of your own individual health, to live your best possible life, and ultimately achieve the embodiment of self. The more knowledgeable and aware we are, the more ways we can become an empowered version of ourselves. I think it is important to receive healing, advice, guidance, and education from a wide range of experts and people skilled at various systems and techniques. All of these philosophies available to us are an ongoing exploration that brings us through the changing phases and needs of life. Health and wellness is a process—a continuum worth exploring to attempt to hit the mark of wholeness!
